Nice flyer!

THE END...

Dear You,

So it's the end of the year, and time to tell you what I have thought of having a blog this year! To be honest, I'm not really sure... I have found it useful in terms of reminding myself of the year and what I have been up to... but to be honest, I have found it more handy keeping an ongoing sketchbook (which I have succeeded in doing)! Next year I am going to put more of my own design work (whether or not it has anything to do with current projects) as I feel this would help a lot, in case i lose my sketchbook!

Over the summer I am hoping to carry on the blog, and make it more consistent. I have not been good and posting regularly this year which may be a downfall!

To all those who were hoping for more regular posts, I am sorry!

Have a lovely summer xxx

Dear You,

So here is my final piece... a little different (to say the least) from my rough! I'm pretty pleased though, hope you like it too...

CREAM TEA...

Dear You,

I'm not sure whether this is going to stay the same, in terms of the fact that I would like to experiment with maybe making the women's faces strawberries... or something... and maybe putting the wasps in the background...
I think the composition is a little too obvious!

p.s. The reason for the crappy quality picture is that I have literally just broken the cable to my camera, so I've used my blackberry!

40 WINKS...

Dear You,

So, after sleeping on it, I decided to make her skintone slightly lighter and enlarge her a little so that there was only a hint of her chest. I am much happier with it!

Hope you agree...

PRIVATE DANCING...

Dear You,

Another one done and dusted! They seem to be getting progressively harder, and as usual I'm not quite happy enough with it for some reason...

I've chosen the greyscale one for my final piece because I think the colour in the one below is just too much.

50p FOR YOU...

Dear you,

So we've been given our third article to illustrate, and I dont think as hard as last weeks because there's more scope for having more 'fun' and creating something less 'obvious'. So here's mine; a rather trashier Tina Turner (maybe a lookalike) with a wall of robots behind. Again, I'd rather keep it simpler. The face below was my first impression of the girl mentioned, but i thought Tina would be more suitable and a little ironic.

A MILLION SQUID...

Dear You,

So this is the second illustration I have done for this terms project. It was pretty hard, and I'm still not totally satisfied with it. Shame!

I left out the tree as it cluttered the space far too much, and the bird does not look like a magp
ie in any way... oops! I worked on the colour of the bird for a good 50% of the time it took me to design it.

C'est la vie...

P.s. I will not be using birds in either of the other illustrations!

WHAT A NIGHTMARE...

Dear You,

So, we've been given the article for our second illustration. It was a little harder than last weeks due to the number of elements that are there. I chose to pick out the reference to trees and a radio. I decided to include a fictional bird like creature (loosely modeled on a phoenix and magpie); the phoenix relating to the mention of a fire and the magpie relating to the man's apparent love of money and material things (all things 'shiny').

Even though I like the look of the bird, it doesn't have the markings of a magpie and is a little too much like a phoenix. The proportions are also all wrong so I will have to work on them and the final composition.

Fingers crossed...

LAST BEER...

Dear You,

So this is my final piece. I decided to work in predominantly black and white as I intended for the beer to stand out. The desired effect has been achieved but to be honest, I'm not completely happy with it... I guess it just means I shall push myself further this week...

Until next time, cheerio!

A FEW PINTS YOU SAY...

Dear You,

So... I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and new year... here's to a happy 2010!

I had my first tutorial for my new project today. After being sent the article we are to illustrate yesterday, we had the chance to discuss ideas today. Even though it's a tad early to have decided on my final composition, I have chosen to focus more on facial expressions and the number of pints listed. That's why I have shown the gentleman 'crying' a pint. The emotions mentioned are erratic and a focal point of the passage. To surround the face, I am most likely going to design some sort of festive pattern, or look at the colours used on jukeboxes (both mentioned). I want it to be rather simple because the article is quite detailed.

Well, here we go...wish me luck!
